Teaching

Lucas is a bass and ensemble-rhythm section coach at many local schools in the area. His coaching activities and private students have come from such schools as:

• Hillside MS
• Mesa Verde MS
• Santa Susana HS
• Colina MS
• Los Cerritos MS.

Performance

In addition to private lessons, Lucas performs regularly with many different ensembles and groups and in a variety of styles and traditions. He is currently the principal bassist with the Westlake Village Symphony and plays with the following groups and orchestras:

• Los Angeles Jewish Symphony
• Gold Coast Wind Ensemble
• Valley Opera and Performing Arts
• The Secret Agents

Lucas recently had the privilege of sitting principal as part of the Studio Intensive with the Los Angeles Film Conductor’s Intensive, recording on the Eastwood Scoring Stage on the Warner Brothers Studios Lot in Burbank. Recording pieces by John Williams, David Arnold, Conrad Pope, Rachael Portman and Arturo Sandoval.

Policies

• Lesson cancellations (“early cancels”) are made at least 24 hours in advance. Exemptions to this rule include cases of emergency only.
• Every effort will be made to schedule make-up lessons for early cancels, but they are provided as a courtesy and are at the discretion of the instructor according to schedule availability.
• Make up lessons are first come-first serve and will be scheduled on either Saturday or Sunday depending on instrument (upright or electric) and availability of the instructor.
• Lessons canceled by the instructor in cases of emergency, performance, or travel for performance will also be rescheduled to Saturday or Sunday at the behest of the instructor.
• “No shows” or lessons not canceled in advance: no make-up lessons will be scheduled and the instructor reserves the right to charge for the missed lesson at the full rate.
